VETERANS ID CARD.  VA has announced that the process is open to veterans with honorable service.  The ID card provides proof of military service and may be acdce[pted by retailers in lieu of the standard DD Form 214.  To apply and request a VIC, vetterans must visit www.vets.gov, and click on "Apply for Printede Veteran ID Card" on the bottom left of the page and sign in or create an account.  Veterans who apply for a card should receive it within 60 days and can check delivery status of their cards at www.vets.gov.

Attention 100% Disabled Michigan Veterans!!!

As of November 12, 2013, Public Act #161 of 2013 now allows 100% disabled Veterans to be exempt from Property Taxes.  100% Scheduled, 100% I.U (individual unemployable) and those at 100% receiving precuniary assistance for modifications to their homestead for their handicap.  All three are eligible.  There is some talk that this is available to the unremaried spouse of a deceased 100% Veterans from the above categories.  Signed by the Governor and effective immeidately.  To view the signed bill in PDF, click here.  Contact John Smeekens if you have any questions.

In particular, with the input of military families, Joining Forces identified three priority areas for national initiatives: employment, education, and wellness.
